Spring Car Cleaning - Well Needed and Well Attended

After many months of driving my 2001 325CI through the salt, snow, slush, and any other harsh elements from this winter that my car survived through…I was very much looking forward to the Spring Car Clean-up at O’Reilly’s this weekend.

For me, this Winter in particular seemed to have lasted forever.  Perhaps it was the fact that I had stored my mint green 2002 earlier this year than in previous years, meaning less fun driving for me.  It also could also be attributed to the fact that last year I heavily attended many BMW events and standard events up at Road America making the Winter season seem like an eternity until I could go outside again and enjoy my cars.

I had put on snow tires in late Fall for the Winter season with black steel rims making this vehicle look more attractive!  Then about two months ago some clever little theft took off my Roundels, numbers, and letters off the car.  If my 3 didn’t look great before, it sure was becoming one “honey” of a car now.    It was to the point where I was embarrassed to be seen in this car, but I had no other choice than to drive it.

A few days before the Spring Car Clean-up, I took my 3 series in and got its Summer tires and wheels on, oil changed, numbers, letters, and most of all…..its Roundels back on it!  My 3 was soon onto its way being back to the way it was last Fall.

I arrived at the event early this Saturday and was very excited to have the car washed and for me to give this car its first waxing of the season.  This vehicle was in desperate need of a nice waxing, as I must admit it…the last time it received wax was at the Fall Car Clean-up.  What type of a driver had I become?  Such neglect!

My 3 series finally got some loving that it surely deserved as it served me well as my daily driver during the Winter season.  My vehicle was washed up stairs by Nate from O’Reilly’s and brought downstairs where the waxing began.  As time was ticking, Bill Nicoud and Dave Theurk assisted me with the application of the wax and the taking off of the wax.  Without their help, I would have been there past the 2:00 ending time for the event!  I then cleaned the interior and exterior windows, applied tire treatment, and cleaned off the interior surfaces.  I was proud to then be the owner of this car again.

There was a total of 16 members in attendance with their cars on the morning of Saturday, April 23, 2005!  The club had provided fruit, doughnuts, and juice for the occasion.

Most of all, we need to all be very thankful for the donation that Mike Loos made of his facility that day and giving us the opportunity to make our cars sparkle once again!
