Old Business

1.Treffpunkt (Brad) We raised $2,700 for the Rainbow Hospice. Good job Brad and Clarence. Thanks to all who participated and helped.

2.Drivers' School at Blackhawk - August 21 & 22 (Larry) We had been asked by representatives from Blackhawk Farms and from the Lazy River Folk Festival to share the grounds with the Lazy River group on August 21 and 22. Lazy River raises funds for the Rockford Hunger Task Force. After much discussion in person and via email, the drivers school committee met last Tuesday and decided to agree. The track will waive their $20 per car fee which means a savings for us of $2000+. Lazy River will put up soft fencing from the access road at corner 4 to the playground and restrict their participants to the area between corners 3 and 4. They will provide extra security and separate concessions. Lunch facilities will be shared, but music festival participants will not interfere with our designated lunch times. We have 47 registered participants. There will be an important drivers meeting and registration on Friday night at 8:00 at the Holiday Inn in South Beloit. Snacks will be provided and beverages may be purchased. We always need good helpers for things like registration, track control, and tech. If you are not driving in the event but would like to come and help, please contact Mary Medo at (414) 332-3591 or mmedo@execpc.com

3.OctoberFAST (John) The event is half full. The track wanted to charge us $900 to have the showers open, so we said, No.

4.MGA (Mike Dains) The gates open at 7:30. We have to use an alternate gate - not the main entrance. We have 47 people signed up and expect a couple to sign up on Saturday. Mary will bring the breakfast buns and Keith will bring lunch. The cost of the facility is $500.

5.The BRICnic (The annual picnic at the BRIC at Road America on July 25th. If you want to attend, the Club will reimburse the cost of a members ticket.) Chris Fredette will be in charge of bringing food and other necessary picnic gear. Please volunteer to help by calling Chris at
(414) 604-2242.

6. Logo All designs were viewed and reviewed. Designs that did not meet the National guidelines were put aside. The meeting participants selected three appealing styles. Then Board members voted to select the winning logo submitted by Greg Smith. He wins $100! Congratulations Greg. Greg's design will be refined so that it will still look great when reduced in size.

7.IM Racing (John and Erik) Last weekend, John and Erik drove in an SCCA event at Blackhawk. John, in the ITB car, finished third in his race and turned the fastest lap of the race. Erik drove the Chevron and, despite mechanical problems, finished first in his class - A sports Racer.

8.Wash and Polish (Mary) Saturday, August 7, 1999 from 9:00 until about noon at Dent Doctor 196th & Bluemound Rd. behind Gander Mountain on Janacek Rd. Mike Henneberry and his staff will demonstrate their technique for taking out minor dents without repainting. They will give all participants a $20 discount to have dents removed on the spot! The regular cost is $85 for
the first dent and $15 for each additional dent - a lot less than a paint job! Mike will provide refreshments and a place for us to wash cars. We will send postcards to all members and Mike will pay for the postage.

9.IMAX Super Speedway (Larry) We can rent the theater and show Super Speedway - a good film about Indy cars - for about $1400. The theater seats 275 people. We can sell tickets to cover costs and donate proceeds to a charity. The Board approved a motion to hold this event on Saturday evening, November 7th. Mark your calendars!

New Business

1.Special Event (Jim Van Orsdal) Jim is investigating the possibility to put together an event similar to the California Mille and the Copper State 1000. There are many considerations including: length of time (3-4 days), starting point, daily destinations to historic, scenic places with good restaurants and lodging, liability, car eligibility, limit by marque/model?, proceeds to charity, route priority or destination priority, and time of year - July before the BRIC or September before Vintage at Road America. Jim will need dedicated enthusiasts to help during the next year to help organize this event.

2.Special Thanks, Clarence (Matt) Matt called for a hearty round of applause for Clarence, our newsletter editor, who dedicates his talent and countless hours to the Club. The Board approved Matt's motion to give Clarence free entry to all Club events. This will give Clarence the chance to participate in all events and have first-hand knowledge, for example, of what its like to drive laps at Blackhawk or Road America. The Board also noted that if Clarence turns over the editorship, the new editor will have the same privilege

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15
