Old Business

Drivers' Schools

OctoberFAST — October 15, 16, 17, 1999 (Darcy)

We have 23 novices (limit 25), 29 intermediates (limit 35), 27 advanced, and 11 instructors signed up so far. Before you apply for the novice or the intermediate group, contact Darcy (414-352-7001 or dyench@execpc.com ) to see if space is available. Forty people will join us for dinner at Siebkens. Slots are filling, so if you're going to join us, send in your registration soon! Forms are in the newsletter or can be printed from our web site: www.badgerbimmers.org

Blackhawk — August 21, 22, 1999 (Larry)

We have 34 novices, 17 intermediates, 5 advanced, and about 23 instructors signed up so far. Novice and intermediate groups will most likely be filled, but where are the advanced drivers? We have an excellent pool of instructors with a fair number from the Audi/Quattro Club and Midwestern Council and a few from the BMW Club.

Several vendors have donated some awesome things that we will give to participants. Everyone will receive a gift from Jim Holloway of Mothers Car Care Products. Gary Allison of Ronal Wheels has donated a set of 16" wheels (WOW!) that will be raffled at Saturday night's dinner. We also will have a free drawing for shirts and hats from Northstar Motorsports (thanks Jeannie Ruther,) a Robic timer and a four-panel Wink mirror from Pegasus (thanks Tom Damm,) mechanic's gloves and seat belt pads from G-Tech Enterprises (thanks W.G. Giles,) and some BMW apparel from Concours Motors (thanks Lee Wuesthoff.)

A number of members signed up to help at the event. Thanks! Your participation is valuable and helps assure a smoothly run, fun event.

Logo Selection

Greg Smith was declared the official author of the new logo and received a check for $100. Great job Greg!

Tools and such (Clarence)

The Club has some tools and banners that were recently located and are now taking up space in Clarence's garage. The Board decided to sell the tools and keep the banners. The items, jack stands, a jack, and torque wrenches, will be offered for sale via the newsletter reasonable prices. We know that there are other things that the Club has purchased in past years, but we don't know where they are. Someone's storing them and we need to know who has the goods. So fess up! We don't want the stuff back, we just want to know where it is so all Club members will have access to it.

Edelweiss Cruise (Mustafa)

After a bit of discussion about various Edelweiss packages, the Board decided to schedule a Cocktail Cruise for October 2, 1999. The boat leaves the Third Street Pier at 5:30 and returns at 7:00. The cruise includes a beverage and snacks and costs $19.50 per person. The Club will offer each member two tickets for $10 each - a good deal in anyone's book! Additional tickets may be purchased for the full price of $19.50. Since the cruise is over at 7:00, some of us may decide on a follow-up dinner at some fine, downtown restaurant. Mark your calendar and be sure to join us for an evening of relaxed camaraderie with fellow Bimmers and Bimmettes.

Immer (Clarence)

The deadline for the next Immer is August 20th. Articles, unsolicited, are coming in. What a refreshing relief. Clarence doesn't need to hound us for our news and views. Write on!

We have an advertiser. Watch for the Knauz half-page ad in the next three Immers.

Clarence will be including the Autocross schedules of other car clubs. The next one is with the Milwaukee Region Porsche Club at the stadium on September 12th. PCA will give BMW members the Club price of $20 rather than the non-member price of $25. Thanks. Autocross is fun and safe - a cool way to have a blast in your street car.

REMINDER: If you attended the BRICnic and bought a ticket to enter Road America, the Club will reimburse you — one ticket per member. Contact Mike Stello (414) 964-6772.

Rally (Peter)

Everyone had a good time, even the driver who got lost and ended up at the Madison Zoo! Wonder who that was. Maybe Clarence knows. Next time Peter will provide the destination information - just in case anyone else gets lost. Expenses for the rally were $205 and included trophies, food, and rallymaster expenses. Thanks, Peter for another fine event.

On October 30, everybody is invited to join the SCCA for a rally starting at Ormson Classic Cars in Delafield (at the intersection of Hwys 94 & 83). Could be fun. Let's do it!

MGA (Mike Dains)

We had 49 registered drivers and everyone had way too much fun. There was an article about the event in the Immer (pictures by Clarence.) Several people wanted to have another Car Control Clinic. If you're one of them, let us know and we'll put you to work to get it going.

IMAX (Larry)

We have reserved the IMAX Theater on Saturday, November 6th at 3:30 for a special showing of Super Speedway. (Some of us have seen it and can't wait to see it again.) We can come early and park our cars on the walk adjacent to the theater. Maybe we'll even have a little tailgate party. This will be a great family event.

The Board decided that admission to the event will be $5 (a lot less than the regular price) and two pounds of non-perishable food to be donated to the Hunger Task Force. There is no limit to the number of tickets you can buy and food you can donate. We also agreed to invite the Milwaukee Region Porsche Club. Mustafa will make a flyer announcing the event and Matt will contact Lazer 103/Hunger Task Force. Money we collect will be donated to the Wisconsin Auto and Truck Dealer's Foundation, an organization that helps young people get started in a business.

New Business

Auto Sound Systems Get Together (Greg)

Greg suggested a get together in December at Flanner's where we can talk cars and look at all the latest in sound equipment for cars, trucks, and probably even heavy earth-moving equipment. Pending an appropriate time for members and Flanner's Hey Jenny, wanna go?

Bucks Game (Dave)

We can get a discount of about 15% on Bucks tickets if we have a minimum of 25 people. Dave suggested that we set a date for a Saturday night game in February. There was a considerable amount of interest, so Dave will follow-through. Watch for details in future minutes/newsletters.

Next Year's Calendar

Dave will work on a schedule of events for next year. Of course, he'll get lots of input from those of us who attend the Board meetings.

Holiday Party (Party Girls)

Darcy and Mary will contact the Astor and make preliminary arrangements for a Holiday Party on January 15, 2000.

Merchandise

Larry and Darcy will look into the cost and availability of having shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, and the like printed with our new logo.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 and some of us went to the Silver Spring House for some fresh air and a brew. Good meeting. Thanks, Mustafa and everyone!
