Badger Bimmer's Board Meeting Minutes November 11, 1999
Attendance: Mustafa Emir (president), Darcy Yench (vice-president), Mike Stello (treasurer), Mary Medo (secretary), Matt Buckau (board member), Dave Herr (board member), Larry Boyer (board member), Brad Radcliffe, Mike Dains (board member), Jenny Morgan, John Morgan, and Erik Ivarson.
President Mustafa called the meeting to order at 7:06. We had another small, but lively group at Mini's on Green Bay Avenue in Milwaukee.
Minutes: approved
Treasurer's Report: approved. The balance in the checking account is $26,010. The Certificates of Deposit total $12,000. That gives us a balance of $38,710. We still have about $11,000 in expenses to pay for the drivers' school at Road America.
OLD BUSINESS
Holiday Party January 15, 2000 MARK YOUR CALENDARS
The speaker will be Tom Schultz, author of the book Road America: Five Decades of Racing at Elkhart Lake.
Music will be provided by The Dan Dance Trio. They'll provide the dinner music, then take a break as we listen to Tom and dole out door prizes. Then they'll entertain us with good tunes for listening and dancing.
We have loads of door prizes everything from complimentary entries to our Treffpunkt, MGA, Blackhawk, and Road America events to a free psychic reading. And that's no joke. We also have t-shirts from our driving events, and Brad tells us we have promises from the following vendors: Bavarian Auto Sport, International Auto, Rocky Mountain Motorsports, Sparco, Wash Brite, Greer Enterprises, Wisconsin Aviation, King Motorsports, and a cutlery company. Whew! Way to go Brad!!
Club Banners (Mustafa)
We have four generic BMW CCA banners. If you joined us on the Edelweiss cruise, you saw one hanging in the 'party room.'
Club Tools (Erik)
John and Erik have the following Club tools: 0-1" micrometer "skill tech," Craftsman stud installer/extractor, feeler gauge set, timing chain turning tool, vacuum pump and fittings, Sears timing light, snap ring pliers, Sears compression tester, stethoscope, and a Sears tap and die set - metric. Someone has a radar detector and jack stands, but we don't know who. Do you? Clarence has a jack. Ron Clarkson has a G-analyzer.
Bucks Game (Dave Herr) February 19th
The sky box is way too expensive. We're talkin' over $3000 for 20 seats. Oh, but that includes beer and wine. Deal? We think not. So Dave will get a block of $28 seats, and the Club will sell them for $20. You buy your own beer. Deal? You bet. MARK YOUR CALENDARS. Even if you're not a Bucks fan, you don't want to miss this chance to have a good time with the Bimmers and Bimmettes. Why, you'll even get to see the Buckettes prance around the court. Now that's a real deal!
MGA (Mike Dains)
MGA will not let us use their grounds during the winter. However, Mike will work on getting two dates next summer. You asked for it! How much more fun can you have anywhere for $25 - fabulous food included?!
Everyone is asked to bring ideas for a location for a winter handling school to the next meeting.
Larry has information on the Bridgestone Ice Driving School in January at Steamboat, CO. He's been there and assures us that it's a blast. If you're interested, give him a call at (414) 536-5369 or email him at larry.boyer@gasai.com .
NEW BUSINESS
Elections (Mustafa)
The nominating committee consists of Jenny Morgan, John Morgan, and Paul Szedziewski. They will present a slate of candidates by the time the next newsletter hits the press. A ballot will be included.
According to the by-laws of our chapter, no officer can serve in one position for more than two consecutive years. The secretary and treasurer have served two for two years, therefore, Mary and Mike will not run for re-election.
Look for your the ballot in the newsletter and mail to Jenny by the deadline. Your vote counts! The results will be announced at the Holiday Party in January.
Chapter by-laws (Darcy)
Darcy and John will draft suggested changes to the by-laws and submit them at the next Board meeting. The issue here is the configuration of the Board and the length of officers' terms.'
2000 Calendar
Dave Herr will compile a list of events (and firm or tentative dates) for the coming year.
BMW CCA's pending relocation (Jenny)
Jenny will gather resources and draft a proposal for BMW CCA to move the National Offices to Milwaukee. We feel confident that Jenny will produce a strong case for Milwaukee and 'make 'em an offer' they'd be mighty foolish to refuse.
Changes needed to our Club Logo
The art work in our logo (the car and various shading) is exactly like the artwork Maximillian Imports uses in its advertising. Soooo, we need to change ours. Greg...HELP!
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20. People hung around and buzzed about certain agenda items while chomping on their late-arriving dinners. Some of us went to the Silver Spring house for fast service food and Sprecher. As John says, "Beer is food."
