Badger Bimmer BMW Club Board Meeting

Attendance: Mustafa Emir, Jay Schmidt, Mike Clemens, Chris Fredette, Greg Smith, Don Gawronski, Joe Conway, John Morgan, Will Duffy
Call to Order: 7:30 pm by Mustafa. Joe took minutes
Treasurer's Report: Data currently unavailable.
Membership: 18 new members, 800 total
Old Business:
Blackhawk: Mike reported that the June school was incident free and actually made $3030. On site registration was provided by Mike Clemens, Darcy Yench, Paul Sz and Joe Conway. Jay Schmidt ran control from the bridge. There was one Novice no show due to an expired helmet. He will be credited for the August 2nd Blackhawk school. Everyone in attendance agreed that it was a WONDERFUL event. No Incidents. So far, 10 are registered for the August school.
Cling-on decal stickers: Mike received 1,000 club decals. We reconfirmed that these will be distributed in the new member packets and will be in the driving events packets this year The rest will be made available for purchase at $1.00/each at various social events.
Spring Clean Up: John Morgan reported that poor weather reduced attendance, and that next year we will clearly indicate that a large indoor facility is available. We will also increase advertising for the event, and explore additional entertainment options.
Newsletter: The June immer was completed with Joe Conway as editor and Don Gawronski performing layout duties, using Quark in a MAC environment. Printing was contracted through Econoprint of New Berlin. A test print was presented to the board for review.
OctoberFAST: The price was set at $325 for participants, $200 for Friday lapping, and $125 for instructors. 9 sessions will be available on Friday. The club will attempt to bring in a lunch time speaker to discuss competition driving.
Treffpunkt: All agreed that the event was a success.
Fall Tour: Greg and Jeff continue to work on route planning in coordinating the tour.
Member Badges: 500 have been ordered through National Trophy. Darcy pointed out that the pins can not be attached prior to engraving the member name.
New Business
Club Race: Mike paid $2500 to Midwest Council (Frank) for the race. Mustafa committed to soliciting race sponsors. Joe Conway to contact Scott Blazey regarding display materials for use at the track
Mini Coopers: A discussion was held as to whether they were considered BMW's for BMW CCA events. John Morgan will investigate.
Webmaster and Editors conference: Greg said that web advertising is still an undefined issue in general by the clubs, and that in general the Badger Bimmer web site is considered one of the best BMW club web sites. John Morgan wants to try to get in car video footage of a race car on the web page.
Car Control Clinic: Chris F. will spend ~$250 to make lights. Life is expected to be 10 yrs. John M. will price obtaining some new cones, as many are wearing out.
Badger Bimmer Committees: Committee formation will be announced through an article in the immer and the web. A letter will also be produced to provide to new members. Label files will be obtained from Wynne at BMW CCA
Advertising Contracts: Greg Smith and Mustafa will work on developing advertising contracts to ensure payment to the club.
Club Race Participant Gifts: Much discussion, no conclusions
Directors and Officers Insurance: Mustafa expressed the need to protect Badger Bimmers officers and directors from liability. Any insurance coverage would only include them, instructors would be excluded, by policy.
Helmet Release Forms: A brief discussion was held regarding the need for driving school participants need to sign a helmet release forms. It was agreed to provide a sticker only for the helmets.
Adjournment: Mustafa adjourned the meeting at 8:20 pm. The next meeting will be held on July 11th.at 7:00 PM. Location is upstairs at the BBC on the NW corner of North Ave. and Farwell, Milwaukee, WI
