Attendance: Mike Clemens, Mary Medo, Dave Herr, Darcy Yench, Jay Schmidt, Joe Conway, Larry Boyer, Clarence Behrend, Jerry Zajicek

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:15 by Darcy. This meeting was on November 8th and was held at the Mequon/Thiensville library.

Prior Meeting Minutes: The October meeting minutes were approved.

Treasurer's Report: Joe presented Will's report covering October 11th to November 8th. The beginning balance was 33,515.30, deposits were 10,884.55, disbursements were 24,810.07 giving a balance of 19,589.78 in the checking account. We also have a $5,500.00 certificate of deposit giving an overall balance of $25,089.78. Not include in the total is a $1000 check that was not given to the Astor hotel but has not been returned to Will.

Membership: A report was not available.

Old Business:

October Fast – Mike reported that the event lost $231.24. This does not include the insurance refund we should get from National. With the refund of $800 the event will make $568.76. Mary reported on the results of the email survey. 33 surveys were returned. 85% of the surveys rated the event a 4 (great) and 15% rated it a 3 (pretty good). The information from the surveys will be used to help improve next years event. Mike reported that we have reserved October 4-6 with Road America for next years event.

Holiday Party Mustafa reported via email that the holiday party will be held at the Hotel Metro on the 19th of January. A $500 deposit has been paid to them. The announcement about the party is in the current Immer and will be in the 2 Immers also.

Immer AdvertisingMustafa reported via email that bills for all of 2001 have been sent to The Little Car Shop, Midwest Motorsports and Knauz BMW. Mustafa also reported via email that talking with TOYO tires about advertising in the Immer and other participation in our events.

Packers Game – We will hold and event at Champs sports bar in Brookfield on December 16th.

Board Elections – Board members terms for Mary, Jay and Joe are up at the next election. Darcy's term as vice president and Mike's term as secretary are also up at the next election. CR will head the nomination committee. A notice will be placed in the next Immer asking for people you want to run for office. The ballots along with candidate statement will be in the following Immer. Candidate statements should be sent to Clarence by 11/22. The statements will be in the next Immer.

Club RaceMustafa reported via email that Concours and International Autos have been invoiced (or reminded) for their commitments for $500 each.

Winter Driving ClinicMike will talk with Peter Bitterman from the Audi club about a possible joint event.

New business:

Benz Club – Jerry Zajicek whose a member of the Benz Club as well as the BMW club attended the board meeting. We discussed holding joint events with Jerry. He said a number of Benz club members are interested in speed events such as Blackhawk and Road America. They don't have enough interest to organize their own events and would like to attend some of ours. We also talked about our members attending some Benz club events such as road ralleys and a Chicago car show event. We agreed with Jerry to an exchange of event information.

Name TagsJoe asked about name tags for club members. He will investigate possibilities. Darcy has the equipment to emboss name tags.

Car Control ClinicClarence discussed using an alternate location for the car control clinic that has been held at the MGA proving grounds the last few years. He suggested the Fox Valley Technical school grounds in Appleton. They run a number of different types of driving schools for truck drives and police. We will discuss this more in future meetings.

Treffpunkt Car Show – Scheduled for May 19th. This is the Sunday between Mother's Day and Memorial Day.

2002 Event Calendar – We discussed possible events and scheduling for 2002. The tentative schedule is:

  • January  Annual dinner/holiday party
  • February Winter driving clinic
  • March  Buck's game
  • April  Video (racing films) get together, wash and polish
  • May  Treffpunkt
  • June Blackhawk
  • July Car control clinic
  • August Club race, picnic, Blackhawk
  • September
  • October  OctoberFAST at Road America – 4th through the 6th
  • November Tech session, possibly with Tire Rack rep and/or a detailer
  • December

Ideas for new types of events are always welcome.

Adjournment: Darcy adjourned the meeting at 8:20. The next meeting will be held on December 13th at the Mequon/Thiensville Library.
