Black Hawk Driving School – Mary reported on the availability and cost of one day events at Black Hawk. Including insurance the cost for one day is $3,750. We picked Friday July 14th for the event. (This is the day before the car control clinic.) The charge will be $125 per driver. Mary also reported that the Audi club will hold a number of slots for Badger Bimmer members for the August 19th and 20th event at Black Hawk. The number slots is not known at this time. Badger Bimmer members will not have to pay to join the Quattro Club to attend this event.
Car Control Clinic – The date for this event is July 15th. It will be held at the MGA proving grounds near Burlington. This is the same location as the last 2 years. Details along with an application will appear in a future issue of the newsletter,
Club Logo – Waiting for Jenny to provide a CSL picture for the logo.
Road Rally – Peter has three entries so far. We may get more entries the day of the rally. (We had a total of 6 cars and as usual Peter did a great job of setting up the rally.)
Old business (continued)
Autocross – Bob Clark reported that the original dates we were considering were no longer available. The new date is July 30th. The event will be held at Case High School in Racine. More information and an application will be in a future issue of the newsletter.
Trefpunkt Car Show – Brad provided an update on Trefpunkt. We still need a number of door prizes and support from sponsors. Bard and Mustafa will meet to determine who should be approached and how much money we should ask for. We may also ask for sponsorship money for the club race at Road America. We had a long discussion about how much to ask for and who should be asked. Chris also volunteered to help with the sponsorship efforts.
There will be music from a jazz DJ. A number of announcements were sent to radio/tv/newspaper outlets. Plans for the food service are not complete. The vendor from last year sold the to a new vendor that will not be ready to provide service for out event. Expenses of $150 were approved for Clarence for mailing and other costs. There will be an entry form in the newsletter. All board members were encouraged to enter one or more cars.
New Business:
Newsletter – Clarence asked about getting more advertising for the newsletter. He does not want to be the one to solicit the ads but believes someone should. We all agreed. Clarence will talk to the Little Car Shop about paying for the add that is on the back page of each newsletter.
Badger Bimmer Babies – Brad showed some drawings of a Badger Bimmer Baby similar to a Bennie Baby. The drawings were done by Brad's wife. A friend of Brad's is going to make a sample. We may be able to sell these to members.
WEB Site – Jay asked about the WEB site and the procedures for getting content on the site. Erik said that material could be set to him or Greg Smith. We may want to make sure that club event and maybe applications appear on the WEB site.
Correspondence – Mustafa read a letter from Christian Rasmussen from LaCrosse about holding a possible fall tour in the LaCrosse area. Christian owns a blues club and suggested that we may find the area nice for a fall tour. Everyone thought it would be a good idea and we will keep this in mind for a fall event.
Correspondence – Mustafa also read a letter about convertibles in drivers schools. Our policy will be that no students driving convertibles will be allowed in our drivers schools. Instructors with convertibles with approved roll bars will be allowed. The specifications for the roll bars are in the national BMW CCA bylaws.
Adjournment: Mustafa adjourned the meeting at 9:00. The next meeting will be held on May 11th at Mini's.
