Cindy's 2002

Here is a little history....In high school I had a 1968 '02, and in college I had a 1976 '02. Then came along college graduation and I purchased a new 325e.

Since then I have wanted nothing more than to acquire another 2002 and perfect it!

I then received wonderful news.. my father got a hold of a 1975 2002 and it was going to be  a "project" car for the two of us. This vehicle was in a front end collision with extensive damage, many shades of green, badly scratched paint, dings, ripped seats, electrical wiring not done by professionals, etc. Needless to say...a mess.

The restoration consisted firstly of straightening out the frame. The engine was taken out of its compartment, seats and carpeting removed, and the car was brought down to a shell.

The car then went for its body work and paint. The body of the car has all been nearly replaced with original BMW parts that were purchased in the 80's but never had been used. They were still the color of primer paint grey when I received the parts. The people at Kaliber allowed me to provide the doors, hood, trunk, trim pieces, clips, and miscellaneous other hardware that was necessary.

Nearly two years after beginning the restoration, it was finally completed in September 2003. This vehicle had its debut at Octoberfast 2003!

I have been enjoying him (FUNJIM) more than you can imagine. I also want to thank my father for doing such wonderful work on him and assisting me in getting one of the "mistakes" back that I made years ago...when a new car seem so very desirable.
